The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison) could be your next academic home, and we're here to help guide you through the admissions process. ## All About UW-Madison UW-Madison, located in the heart of Madison, Wisconsin, is renowned for its strong emphasis on research, excellent faculty, and vibrant campus life. With its wide array of programs, the university offers a diverse academic environment. ## The Application Process Unraveled **Choosing Your Application** You can apply to UW-Madison using either the Common Application or the UW System Application. Each requires specific supplemental materials unique to UW-Madison. **Academic Records** Ensure to provide official high school transcripts and any records from dual enrollment college courses, showcasing your academic performance and challenge. [**Standardized Test Scores**](https://www.admithero.com/blog/act-vs-sat-which-test-should-you-take) UW-Madison has transitioned to a test-optional policy for all domestic applicants. However, you can still submit SAT or ACT scores if you think they enhance your application. [**Recommendation Letters**](https://www.admithero.com/blog/guide-to-requesting-letters-of-recommendation-for-college-applications) Submit two letters of recommendation, one from a school counselor and another from a teacher who can attest to your academic abilities and personal qualities. **Your [Personal Statements](https://www.admithero.com/blog/the-comprehensive-guide-to-international-baccalaureate-ib-exams)** UW-Madison requires a personal statement and an additional supplemental essay. These are your opportunities to let your personality shine through and show what makes you uniquely suited to be a Badger. ## Tips for a Successful Application 1. **Apply Early**: Start your application process sooner rather than later. This allows you enough time to complete all the required elements. 2. **Show Why You Chose UW-Madison**: Be sure to convey why you believe UW-Madison is a good fit for your educational goals and what you can bring to the Badger community. 3. **Highlight Your Accomplishments**: Whether they're academic, personal, or extracurricular, don't shy away from showcasing your achievements.
